ECLIPSE Ci
ECLIPSE Ci series:
Clinic and laboratory microscope with LED illumination * for stress-free operation for routine applications
To meet the needs of clinical laboratory specialists and researchers, Nikon has reviewed all aspects of microscope use to develop the ECLIPSE Ci series of microscopes, that combine superior functionality with ease of use. The Ci is designed to ensure a natural posture while viewing images, changing samples and capturing images. Bright, environmentally-friendly LED illumination reduces frequent lamp changes. A variety of accessories that support various imaging techniques are available.
Improved usability
Observation with a natural posture. With the ergonomic binocular tube, and an eyepiece which is extendable to 40mm and inclined from 10° to 30°, the microscope can be adjusted for a natural posture. The eyepiece riser lifts the eyepiece tube in 25mm increments (up to 100mm*) and can be easily adapted to users of different heights. *up to 50mm with ergonomic binocular tube.
Improved illumination
Bright and uniform eco-illumination. Eco-illumination is an energy-saving, environmentally-friendly illumination system that produces uniform brightness thanks to the 60,000-hour high-luminescent LED, which reduces the cost and effort of changing lamps. By combining a collimator lens, fly-eye optic and LED illumination, bright, edge-to-edge uniform images can be obtained even at high magnifications. The LED illumination is characterised by low heat generation and provides the same colour temperature at every magnification.

User-friendly stage operation
The additional spacer allows the stage height to be lowered by 20mm compared to the standard position, which reduces strain during frequent sample changes. The height of the stage handle can also be adjusted to ensure a comfortable hand position. The stage height can be locked with the re-focusing knob, which allows quick re-focusing after sample changes. The stage is coated with an extremely durable, scratch-resistant ceramic coating.
Additional options
Many options are available to enhance the basic model
Effortless image acquisition
A single click on the image acquisition button on the bottom of the microscope during observation allows the digital sight camera to capture an image of the sample. Symbols on the touch panel of the DS-L4 camera control for the observation method provide the optimal camera settings for the selected method. In addition, the ECLIPSE Ci Series of microscopes can be connected to remote PCs via a DS-L4 for remote viewing, online training and remote working.
Versatile observation techniques
Phase contrast
High-contrast images with a neutral background colour can be captured, regardless of the magnification range. This observation technique is suitable for observing unstained structures.
Simple polarization
Ideal for observing birefringent samples such as collagen, amyloids and crystals. * Two types of analyser are available: intermediate tube type and nosepiece type.
Sensitive colour polarization
Enables the identification of uric acid crystals by changing the interference colour. This technique is ideal for gout and pseudo-gout tests. * Two types of analyser are available: intermediate tube type and nosepiece type.
Darkfield
Allows the clear observation of blood or minute structures such as flagella. Dry and oil condensers are available. An expander lens is used for a brighter image.
Epi fluorescence
Compact epi fluorescence attachments with noise-suppressing mechanisms allow the capture of weakly fluorescing samples with great clarity and brightness. Both the CI-FL epi-fluorescence attachment (includes up to 4 filter cubes) and the D-FL epi-fluorescence attachment (with up to 6 filter cubes) allow easy changing of the filter cubes. High-optical-performance objectives for epi-fluorescence imaging are available, including the CFI Plan apochromat Lambda series and the CFI Plan Fluor series.
